Convergent Science Lobby
PROJECT OVERVIEW
As part of a large renovation and expansion at Convergent Science, leadership wanted the new annex lobby to reflect the company’s identity in a way that was clean, modern, and rooted in the history of the brand. The space needed a visual anchor that welcomed and inspired visitors and staff while connecting the new building to the company’s scientific foundation. Working alongside the architect, the task was to develop a large-scale environmental installation which included a twenty-by-thirty-foot mural and signage that carried the brand forward without exceeding the tight remaining renovation budget.
OBJECTIVE + CHALLENGE
Design a cohesive lobby feature that tied the space to the company’s scientific identity while working within significant budget and construction limitations.
ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES
Developed the core concept for the lobby installation and guided the team’s early design explorations toward a direction that reinforced the company’s brand and scientific foundation. Designed the final selected mural and signage system and worked closely with the executive team to present the concept, refine the details, and secure approval. Collaborated with the architect to ensure the artwork and materials aligned with the building’s aesthetic and structural constraints. Managed the project carefully to keep the installation within the limited budget while still delivering a polished and modern solution. Coordinated with production and installation teams to confirm specifications, oversee fabrication, and ensure the final installation accurately reflected the design intent.
STRATEGY + EXECUTION
Built the visual direction around the actual CFD imagery, the scientific foundation of the company’s logo, to create an installation that felt authentic to the brand and cohesive within the architecture. Refined the design with the contractor and architect to ensure material choices, scale, and placement worked within both the space and the tight remaining budget. Managed approvals and coordinated production and installation so the final piece maintained clarity, visual impact, and alignment with the renovated environment.
RESULTS
The completed installation has become a defining feature of the annex, reinforcing brand identity the moment visitors enter the building. The mural offers a clear narrative link to the company’s roots, and the minimalist signage provided a strong, modern counterpart. Leadership responded positively to both the concept and execution, noting how effectively the installation tied the new building to the company’s scientific history while staying within budget. The environmental design now serves as a visual and cultural anchor for the space inspiring visitors and employees.
